In first year, students should be made aware about what is design which primarily needs understanding of human anthropometry, ergonomics and the basic relationship between them and spaces of day to day use.
After getting familiar to all the basics in 1st year, now is the time to understand the "process" of design & explore architectural form, analyze it & study the effects of variables on form. The entire design assignment will be divided into two sections.
On this stage, students are very much clear about planning and designing concepts. Here, the focus is to understand the site context, its topography and physical characteristics with positive and negative spaces.
Fourth year design is a mere focus on the contextual, social, technological, economical, urban and historical factors on complex and multi functional design program in an urban context evolving rational and philosophical basis for development of design.
